Step 1: Make a list of the keywords which you are intending to rank for. Keyword research is crucial for your campaign to be successful. If you don’t lay the foundation properly, you cannot expect to out-rank your competitors.
Step 2: Gather the list of your top 10 competitors by visiting each and every keyword you are looking to rank for. If you can see sites below the age of 1 year and sites with thin content ranking on top 10, then keep that keyword as a favorite.
Step 3: Once you have the list of your competitor template, get a subscription of Ahrefs or SEMrush and input your competitor URLs one by one and check for the following options:
Referring Domains: These are the unique number of domains from which your competitor has a backlink from. By this, you can find many websites or blogs related to your niche from where you can create links either by commenting or by submitting guest blogs.
Organic Keywords: This is the most important part of your spying. Make a list of the top 10 organic keywords for which your competitor is ranking for. Anchor Texts: Although this isn’t important, but it won’t hurt you to do competitor analysis template. In this, you check the anchor text percentage of your competitor. If he or she knows about SEO, then it will be common that his anchor profile will include more than 50% branded and naked URL anchors as branded anchor text is the future. It will help your site to be safe from Google penalties.
Design: Although this directly won’t help you in SEO, but it will indirectly help if your competitor template is appealing as good interface keeps users sticking to the site, thereby improving the bounce rate and stay time which in turn improves your user engagement sore in the eyes of Google. So you can analyze the template of your competitor and implement them on your site.
