Have you ever come through the words blacklist or blacklist or blackhole? These words bear the congruent meaning. While writing this short description I am using the word blacklist to symbolize all three. Blacklist is the list of domains and IP address that send spam messages. The blacklist can affect reputation. These sites in question send spam; host botnets and can also spread malware. An IP address may be blacklisted from a single site or may be blacklisted from multiple sites. Blacklisting affects the reputation of the company and can be harmful to a business. Email send from a blacklisted site is strictly prohibited. Sometimes many a company publish a list contains the names of the Blacklisted companies; IP address and their domain names. This can be led to loss of customers if you are owning a business and thus creating a negative impression.
If you ask me that why your IP address blacklisted is, then that could be for several reasons. An IP address may be blacklisted on a single list or in a multiple listed sites. If you are heading any business then try to assign a static business IP address. Secondly, suppose you are tried to communicate with another machine while your machine contains malware or virus or spam. This spam or viruses is notice by the admin of the other site and thus can take effort in blocking your IP address. Running a unconfigured mail, that allows in sending spam can also result in blacklisting of your IP address. Thirdly before picking any IP address make it sure that it was not blacklisted prior.
Blacklists can be classified into two categories, namely, the IP address based and the domain based;
IP address based: If there is a real-time change in the spam status of the IP address then such a list is easily available in the RBL (Real-time blacklist) and DNSBL (Domain Name Server Blacklist). Mailbox providers look up to this blacklist for checking open relays and spammers. The common DNSBL/RBLs include the following;
Domain Based: It consist of domain lists which appear in the email body. The common URI real time blacklists are:
To avoid conditions where your IP address may get blacklisted you can follow a routine blacklist check. This check software gives you a complete idea about the status of your domain and IP address. With an additional benefit, one can also receive an alert whenever the domain or IP address gets blacklisted. Blacklisting generally does not affect small household surfers but it is a big threat for the owners of a business domain. If you are not sure where to get one such checker then you can search in the search engine and can get a list of many. Here you can get such a type of checker which can give you the result in a couple of seconds. It gives you whether your IP address is blacklisted or not.
